The Business Intelligence & EDI Intern (BII) supports the Business Systems team in the delivery of best-in-class ERP business intelligence (BI), reporting and information systems to the business, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting interface.


Assisting with the development and maintenance of BI through a variety of methods to aid business operations and analysis of business performance and financials to enable effective commercial decision making across all EIMEA business teams, segments and units, from ETC through to sales teams, all other departments and individual end users.


The BII also supports the ERP Intern with the enhancement of ERP reporting capabilities, interface and related applications with the focus on executing change requests and project tasks relating to ERP applications, EDI, business intelligence and reporting.


The BII is also responsible for assisting with maintaining the European EDI infrastructure working alongside key business users and 3rd party vendors to ensure that all EDI requests are being processed through in a timely manner to continue the expanding growth of EDI within business.


  1. Supports the EDI process in conjunction with end users, 3rd party vendors and Epicor ERP.
  2. Publishes user-friendly BI reports and KPI’s in a variety of formats, working to set IT reporting standards.
  3. Provides timely support to the EIMEA and global Finance teams to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  4. Produces routine and ad-hoc financial and data reports ensuring consistency, availability and integrity in data for reporting from ERP database and associated data mining from available systems. 
  5. Monitors the performance and administration to ensure BI operates at an optimal level, and liaises with the BSM and IT team to ensure patches, new releases and other software and hardware upgrades are applied in a timely fashion, and performance and capacity requirements are planned.
  6. Maintains an EIMEA sales and financial budgeting and forecasting applications and related processes.
  7. Maintains the EIMEA financial submission process to WD-40 Company HQ through Cognos and global data warehouse interfaces.
  8. Ensures accuracy, integrity and availability of data produced and provides advanced BI and application support and expertise to IT staff and users.
  9. Ensures BS requests are logged, prioritised, reviewed, approved, escalated where required, and resolved or implemented directly or through vendors to a high standard in a timely fashion and in line with SOX and other control requirements.
  10. Audits and analyses data quality and integrity and issues corrective guidance to data owners and recommends new controls and processes to improve quality where appropriate.
  11. Acts as a technical resource within IT on business analysis matters.
  12. Collaborates with the BSM to assist with the implementation of the strategic BS programmes and initiatives.
  13. Maintains current skillset and investigates new and emerging system trends and technologies for possible application to EIMEA’s present and future needs.
  14. Supports end user and internal IT giving guidance on business systems and reporting, budgeting and forecasting tools and processes.
  15. Maintains an adequate level of BS documentation relating to changes, processes, procedures, policies and more.




·        Bachelor’s degree in IT or relevant field ideal but not required.

·        Current technical certification(s), in particular Microsoft SQL and BI, ideal but not required.

·        Managing and supporting databases, preferably Microsoft SQL.

·        Translating technical concepts and information to usable guidance for non-technical users.

·        Experience of programming SQL, VB.

·        Managing and developing relational databases, financial and other reporting and business intelligence, preferably Microsoft SQL and SSRS.

·        Experience of BI and reporting under SOX and GAAP standards desirable.
