We are seeking a strategic and analytically minded Sourcing Manager to champion and develop our EMEA procurement activities for one of the world’s most identifiable brands, WD-40® Multi-Use Product.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, this independent role is responsible for supplier lifecycle management (both supplier and materials needs assessment) as well as negotiating finished goods costs and contracts deliverables. The successful applicant will be fortunate enough to partner with our world-class Operations, R&D, Finance, Marketing and Supply Chain Teams in this hands-on role to bring innovative products to market across EMEA.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide strategic input into the development of purchasing and supply chain strategies for short, medium and long-term.
  • Conduct and support a variety of supplier negotiations, including price and contract terms.  Perform background research and analysis in support of negotiation efforts to include Spend and Portfolio Analysis to identify key cost drivers by brand, components and raw materials.
  • Identify new supplier opportunities taking into consideration multiple criteria to include, but not limited to, values alignment, culture fit, financial stability, quality, service and cost.  Primary supplier sourcing responsibilities include, but not limited to, raw materials, components, co-packers and other services providers utilizing RFI/RFP/RFQ framework.
  • Conduct raw material, commodity and supplier market analysis by product and supplier category.
  • Report KPIs, purchasing related data, such as commodity pricing, industry trends etc.
  • Develop and implement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Program.  
  • Develop and refine the strategies and metrics for the selection, segmentation, management and development of suppliers.
  • Lead negotiations, maintain and manage contracts with all packagers and critical suppliers.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to identify opportunities to gain cost efficiencies through supplier negotiations, packaging adaptations, and analysis of market pricing.
  • Lead the Cost Management Program. Develop, analyze, communicate and manage cost models at appropriate levels of detail, to achieve cost transparency and accuracy of cost changes to both market based and contractual price changes.
  • Facilitate supplier gap remediation, dispute resolution and sourcing activities to support on-going business goals and ensure available capacity to meet company’s demand requirements.
  • Develop cost of goods budgeting and forecasting. Prescribes the appropriate tools and processes to be employed by the organization. Coaches the company towards the integration of a Strategic Cost Management discipline in order to improve resource allocation and effectiveness.
  • Direct the company’s cost of goods sold (acquisition) management program. Leads the development and prioritization of strategic cost management initiatives and goals to improve the company’s cost of goods sold.
  • Work with colleagues within the Global WD-40 Team to share information and best practice.


Knowledge and Experience You’ll Bring to the Role

Ten plus years component and commodity sourcing (ideally: chemicals, plastics, corrugate, tin plate, etc.) in a FMCG/CPG environment to include 5+ years in Europe.  Accountability for contract negotiation/management, RFI/RFP/RFQ process of raw materials, execution and communication of deliverables. In addition, you will have had previous accountability for sourcing financial management, risk mitigation and cost/price/spend analysis and modeling. Finally, strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills, ability to present information across all levels of the organization and cultivate relationships with internal/external customers to achieve business objectives will be critical for success in this role.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, MBA or another relevant field.
